Mount Pleasant, SC Neighborhoods & Communities
Mount Pleasant stretches from the historic streets of the Old Village, minutes from downtown Charleston and Shem Creek, out to the master-planned communities north of the Isle of Palms Connector. Whichever part of town you're drawn to, the area is shaped by the same things: tidal creeks and marsh views around nearly every corner, some of the highest-rated schools in the Charleston region, and quick access to the beaches of Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms. Below is a full directory of Mount Pleasant neighborhoods and communities, organized the way local buyers and agents actually talk about them — Inner Mount Pleasant and Outer Mount Pleasant.
Inner Mount Pleasant Neighborhoods
South of the Isle of Palms Connector. Generally the town's older, more established neighborhoods — closer to downtown Charleston and the beaches, with homes typically starting in the $500s and running well into the millions on the water.
Outer Mount Pleasant Neighborhoods
North of the Isle of Palms Connector. Larger, newer master-planned communities built mostly from the late 1990s through the mid-2000s boom, many with their own pools, golf courses, shops, and schools inside the neighborhood. Homes generally start in the $500s.
A handful of communities above (marked with *) sit near the Inner/Outer dividing line or have mixed sourcing on exact boundaries — Chris, worth a quick gut-check on these since you know the market better than any web search: Alston Point, Belle Hall, Coopers Landing, Crown Pointe, East Crossing, Ivy Hall, Watermark. Sewee Preserve is included for completeness but sits north of Mount Pleasant's town limits near Awendaw, sharing a Mount Pleasant mailing address.
