Chris Eller's Licenses, Certifications & Credentials
A plain-language guide to what each one means and how it helps you, whether you're building a custom home or buying one in Charleston, SC.
(843) 343-3359Most builders can build you a home. Most real estate agents can sell you one. Chris Eller does both.
For more than 20 years, Chris has worked in Charleston's toughest markets, from Isle of Palms to Daniel Island. Along the way, he earned a long list of licenses, certifications, and honors. Below, you can see every one of them explained in plain terms, so you know exactly what each one means for you and your home.
Builder Licenses & Certifications
These credentials cover the construction side of Chris's work: what he's legally allowed to build, and how he's trained to build it well.
LIC

South Carolina Residential Home Builders License
South Carolina requires builders to hold this license before they can build or sell a new custom home. It's proof that Chris meets the state's legal standards for managing a construction project from the first permit to the final walkthrough. You can look up any builder's license through the South Carolina Residential Builders Commission.

Certified Green Professional (CGP)
This training teaches builders how to use materials and methods that save energy and cut down on waste. A home built this way often costs less to heat, cool, and maintain for years to come. This certification comes from the National Association of Home Builders.

Certified Graduate Builder (CGB)
This credential covers the business side of building a home: budgeting, scheduling, and managing a project the right way. It means Chris runs your project with the same discipline he brings to the construction itself. Details are on the National Association of Home Builders site.

Certified Master Builder (CMB)
This is one of the highest honors the National Association of Home Builders gives to an individual builder. It requires years of hands-on leadership experience plus ongoing education in construction methods and safety. Learn more on the NAHB credentials page.
SC

Certified Master Builder of South Carolina
The Home Builders Association of South Carolina created this award for builders with a strong, proven record of quality work and fair dealing. Builders must pass a review of their references, finances, and training before they can carry the title. See the full program at Master Builders of South Carolina.
Real Estate Licenses & Designations
These credentials cover the sales side of Chris's work: buying, selling, and marketing homes in the Charleston market.
BR

South Carolina Real Estate Broker's License
Chris has held this license since 2003, giving him more than 23 years of real, hands-on experience. A broker's license is a step above a standard agent's license, and it means Chris meets the state's highest standard for real estate work. You can verify any agent's license through the South Carolina Real Estate Commission.

Accredited Buyer's Representative (ABR)
This training teaches an agent how to protect a buyer's interests during a negotiation. Not every agent is trained specifically to work for the buyer, so this matters when you're the one writing the offer. Read more from the National Association of REALTORS®.

Certified Residential Specialist (CRS)
This is the top credential in residential real estate. Only agents with years of closed sales and advanced coursework can earn it, and roughly 3 out of every 100 REALTORS® nationwide hold it. Learn more from the Residential Real Estate Council.

Certified New Home Sales Professional (CSP)
This certification is built for selling new construction homes, which is a different skill than selling a home that's already built. It covers everything from choosing a lot to walking a buyer through the building process. See the course details from the National Association of Home Builders.
MS

Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist (CLHMS)
This certification is only awarded to agents who have already closed real luxury home sales, not agents who simply want to sell luxury homes. It's proof that Chris knows how to market a high-end property to serious, qualified buyers. Learn more from the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing.
PRO

e-PRO®
This is the only technology certification endorsed by the National Association of REALTORS®. It means Chris knows how to market your home online, from photos to social media, while keeping your personal information safe. Details are on the NAR e-PRO® page.

Green Designation
This training helps an agent understand energy-efficient homes and how those features affect value. It's useful for buyers who care about a home's monthly running costs, not just the price tag. See the NAR Green Designation page for details.

Resort & Second-Home Property Specialist (RSPS)
This certification focuses on vacation homes, second homes, and investment property, exactly the kind of homes found on Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island. It means Chris understands the goals and rules that come with buying a home you won't live in every day. Read more from the National Association of REALTORS®.

RealTrends Verified
This ranking works differently than most real estate awards because an outside company checks and confirms the numbers instead of relying on self-reported claims. It places Chris among the top-producing agents in the country, based on actual closed sales. See how the process works at RealTrends.

A builder who understands the real estate market. A broker who understands construction. That combination is rare in Charleston, and it means fewer surprises, better decisions, and a smoother path from your first idea to your closing day.
